Full of Beans: Behind the Blend

Wherever we go we always seem to get a lot of compliments about our coffee. While we’d happily take all the credit for this, we must confess a lot of the triumph probably comes down to our beans! It seems to be a popular blend with the punters, and we’ve stuck with the same trusted formula for so long because of this constant positive feedback, so thank you!

But what is actually in this little black bag and what makes it taste so good!? The beans inside are 100% freshly roasted and made up of a mixture of 50% arabica and 50% robusta. The benefit of this combination is in the fusing of their contrasting tastes and characteristics - ultimately, getting the best of both worlds!

Despite containing less caffeine than Robusta, Arabica beans are often considered superior in taste. Arabica tends to have a smoother, sweeter taste, with flavour notes of chocolate and sugar. They often also have hints of fruits or berries. Robusta, on the other hand, has a stronger, harsher, and more bitter taste, with grainy or rubbery overtones. Overall, this pairing is what helps to create the thick body and smooth mouthfeel with plenty of depth and flavour, without impacting the ‘crema’ on top of the espresso shot which makes it look like a small Guinness!

Credit where credit is due however, let’s not forget the essential work of our baristas, as their contribution to the cup is equally vital to the finished product, and, with some of the customer service they provide let’s just say sometimes it’s not only the bag that’s full of beans!

Let us know your opinion on our coffee the next time you see us at an event, we always like to have some feedback! If you’re a bit of a coffee connoisseur and really like it we do also sell the beans by the bag, so you can even take some away with you to continue to enjoy the quality at home! See you out there.
